La Crosse Team
The La Crosse Area Mountain Bike Team started out 11 years ago with less than 20 kids. Today, it is nearly 80 strong, consisting of middle schoolers and high schoolers from WI and MN, 23% of which are female. We have nearly 40 volunteer coaches and travel around the state to race at 5 different venues where we camp with our family and friends each fall.

Head Coach: Carey Falkenberry
Carey has been riding mountain bikes for 30+ years. He has been a NICA mountain bike coach for 6 years and this is his 2nd year as head coach.
Carey is married, has three children (two of which are on the team), and lives in La Crosse.
My favorite part about being on the mountain bike team is… The festival weekends – I love seeing athletes and families come together with the larger NICA community to embrace mountain bike adventures and cross country racing. From introducing the sport to new riders, to supporting racers hungry for competition, and all the growth and development between, I am honored to be part of the La Crosse Area Mountain Bike Team! — Carey Falkenberry

Coaches: All our coaches are volunteers. They complete a background check through NICA. Depending on what level of coaching the pursue (Level 1,2,3) they receive online training, on the bike training, concussion, first aid, CPR training, and more.
